March 20 - 21   PUBLIC STAR PARTY
The Landis Arboretum
174 Lape Road - Esperance, NY  (518) 875-6935.
For many years, Landis has hosted the Albany Area Amateur Astronomers' public star parties. These astronomers were drawn to skies unaffected by light pollution; parking lot lights in Hannaford's Duanesburg store were designed to preserve the Arboretum's "dark sky" designation. We invite you to join the AAAA for an unforgettable evening of star gazing. Alan French will introduce the evening's featured celestial events in the Meeting House, and then guests will be able to view nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, planets -- and a myriad of other cosmic marvels. Registration is suggested because Star Parties are canceled if the skies are mostly cloudy. Call Alan at (518) 374-8460 for more details on Star Parties and to register so you can be contacted if there is a cancellation. You may also call Alan two hours before the start time if conditions are uncertain. Check out this link to the Dudley Observatory, sponsor of the Albany Amateur Astronomers Association: http://www.dudleyobservatory.org/AAAA/Schedule.html. Star Parties are also scheduled for April 10 & 11 at 8:30 PM, May 8 & 9 at 9:00 PM, June 19 & 20 at 9:30 PM, July 17 & 18 at 10:00 PM, August 7 & 8 at 9:30 PM, September 11 & 12 at 8:30 PM, October 9 & 10 and November 6 & 7 at 8:00 PM; visitors are also invited to attend the AAAA Annual meeting at 7:30 PM on August 20 to be followed by a Star Party.
Location: The Meeting House
Members and non-members: free. Donations to the Arboretum gratefully accepted.
